We had the opportunity to meet Annabel Mekelenkamp, co-founder and COO of Digital Risks, to talk about her journey and learn about the way her company is modernizing insurance.
After working for many years in the traditional banking and wealth management industry, with giants such as ING and Rabobank, Mekelenkemp decided to join the London start-up scene which she describes as “really exciting”. She co-founded along with Ben Rose and Cameron Shearer the company Digital Risks in the hope to shake up the insurance world and meet the needs of digital businesses.
Digital Risks aims to make insurance more flexible and efficient by offering services that are in line with the current trends in insurtech and customer expectation. Businesses can get a quote, buy a policy and manage their insurance online through one single platform.
By taking into account the risk appetite of underwriters, the company is also able to offer better prices to their customers than incumbents. Moreover the monthly subscription style of this provider grants their customers more control and flexibility over their insurance, which is something that traditional insurance providers seldom offer.
